Halal Awareness
Understanding Halal principles and their importance in everyday life
Halal Awareness
Halal Promotion Foundation (HPF) is dedicated to promoting awareness and understanding of Halal principles and their importance in everyday life.
The term Halal is an Arabic word meaning permissible or lawful according to Islamic law (Shariah). It refers to products, services, and practices that are allowed for Muslims to use or consume.
The opposite of Halal is Haram, which means prohibited. For Muslims, consuming Halal products is not only a matter of preference but also a religious obligation. Halal awareness therefore plays a vital role in helping individuals and businesses understand and comply with these principles.

What Makes a Product Halal?
A product is considered Halal when it complies with the fundamental requirements of Islamic law. These include:
- The use of permissible ingredients and raw materials
- Animals being slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines
- No contamination with non-Halal substances during processing
- Proper handling, storage, and transportation that maintains Halal integrity
Maintaining Halal integrity throughout the supply chain is essential to ensure that products remain compliant from production to consumption.
